The Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, (Kuje Prisons) has dismissed speculations that it was holding unto Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as a consequence of sure vested pursuits.

The Public Relations Officer of the Service, DCC Austin Njoku, advised Vanguard in a telephone interview on Monday night time that the NCoS was but to receive the certified true copy of the judgement of the apex courtroom authorising the stated release from its custody.
He stated: “How can we refuse to release him? What is our enterprise with the judgement of the courtroom? We now have no business in retaining anyone at will.
“We weren't at the Supreme Courtroom. Our personal is once they deliver the papers for us to launch him. The judgement was just on Friday. If papers are transmitted and his identify is talked about as somebody to be released, we'll launch him.
“We don't hold individuals towards the regulation. The regulation does not permit us to try this. We now have no enterprise in protecting him. If they bring about the papers to us, we'll authenticate the papers to determine that it is from a reliable source and we'll release him.”
There have been some online reviews that Kalu was nonetheless being held at Kuje Prisons because he was a respondent and not an appellant within the case that the apex courtroom decided on Friday.
